Ladies and Gents,
Sit down, relax and get ready because this is going to be a LONG post.
We had a very good crowd at the track Saturday afternoon (98 entries) and there were several times when all of the bleachers were full and people were standing on the fence. YEE-HAW! We had some of the best racing of the season for our last race and most importantly, we had at least 8 or 9 first or second time GMP Racers. Thanks to each and every one of the new racers that came our Saturday and we hope that y’all will become ‘GMP regulars’ in 2010. Thanks to the ‘regulars’ that came out and raced with us Saturday and for the ‘regulars’ that stayed home and watched the Florida Gators continue their march to another National Championship, y’all missed some great racing.

Now for GMP 2009 Points Banquet!
As much fun as I had at the track Saturday afternoon, I had just as much fun (maybe more if I count the food) at our annual point’s banquet yesterday afternoon. It was great to have time to visit with everyone and laugh/joke about the fun that we had this racing season. We had a little over 200 people attend the banquet and as expected, the food was OUTSTANDING! Thanks to all of the ‘cooks’ that made this wonderful event even better. After the banquet was over, the only thing left were a few fruit slices.
Once again, our vendors really stepped up and we were able to give away over $3,000 dollars in prizes to our racers. Randy Schott’s/Thunderbolt Racing, James & Cari/Southern Edge Motorsports, FIRESTONE, Gulfport Logistics, Martin Built Clutches, Ricky Goff/Cajun Indoors, Sign Solutions, Look-Out Graphix, Carla’s Creations and Treasure Bay Casino…..THANKS for giving our racers some really cool prizes.
Thanks to Cassie Mitchell and Samantha Baker for playing the role of ‘Vanna White’ yesterday. We could not have handed out over 125 prizes without your help.
Thanks again to Edmund and Chloe Huguet for coming up with the idea for LAPS FOR LEXI and thanks to each and every person that helped make this race a very special event for Lexi and her family. Don’t forget that y’all raised over $16,500 dollars for this event. Thanks also to Ann Lee and Supervisor Huguet for the LAPS FOR LEXI plaque that y’all gave me yesterday, that one will be displayed prominently in my office.
Thanks to GMP/Ronald and Missy for the $2,500 hundred dollars in trophies, plaques, championship jackets and GMP free-passes for all of the class champions and Top 5. In case you were not at the banquet yesterday, we averaged 132 karts at each of our point’s races in 2009 and we had class champions from Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. That right there is worthy of a TRIPLE YEE-HAW!!!
Congrats also to Billy Hale and Jackson Lee for winning the 2009 Sportsmanship Awards. The attitude that you two guys display ON and OFF of the track is something that all of us can learn from.
Finally, CONGRATS once again to all of our Top 5 Points Racers for 2009. Y’all had over $10,000 dollars in the driver’s points fund that was given out yesterday and several guys left with a ‘pocket full of money’. I’ll be calling a few of you guys later today in hopes of getting a ‘loan’.
I know that y’all have heard me say it a bunch this year but for everyone of you that raced with us this year, I’m going to say it one more time. You had a choice on where to spend your Saturday afternoon’s this year and for those of you that raced with us in 2009…WE DANG SURE APPRECIATE IT!
We look forward to seeing everyone back at GMP in February of 2010 for the 4th Annual ICE-BREAKER and don’t forget about the FIRESTONE-Gulf Coast Tri-State Series that will get started in March of 2010.
Good luck to all of our racers that are heading to Batesville in a couple of weeks and to our racers that are running the MS Dirt Winter Blowout Series, sponsored by FIRESTONE.
Again, THANKS to everyone for making 2009 the best year ever at GMP and we are really looking forward to 2010!
3 months and counting!
