Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of ALL ages.....We have less than 2 weeks to thaw-out from the ICE-Breaker and get ready to go points racing, GMP style.
The first GMP Points Race of 2009 will be on March 14th and the 'times' are listed below. Gates open at 10am Practice starts at noon Drivers meeting at 1:45pm Heat Races begin at 2:00pm
In an attempt to alleviate some of the class conflicts each race weekend ('Can you move this class in front of that class?' or 'Can we get a few extra minutes between medium and heavy?'), we are going to stick with the same line-up for a few races and see how things work out.
Also, we will run our first 2009 - DASH FOR CA$H in the Rookie Class at this race (3/14/09). We are going to try running the DASH for CA$H races BEFORE we take the normal break to get the line-ups posted.
With that being said, here is your line-up for March 14th.
March 14th Running Order Rookies - 250, DASH FOR CA$H, 14/67 gearing Purple Plates - 265 Super Heavy - 400, driver must weigh 200 Medium - 350 Blue Plates - 275 Sr. Champ - Clones - 410 Jr. Sportsman Champ -Purple - 300 Heavy - 375 Limiteds - 350 Jr. Sportsman Champ - Blue - 315 Lite - 325 Jr. Champ - Clones - 360, must run a restrictor plate Sr. Champ - Flatheads - 410 Gold Plates - 300 Clone Flat Karts - 360
12 days and counting! jt

I spoke with Ronald today and in an effort to give the drivers 'more seat time' we are going to run practice, heat races and then feature races to start the 2009 Season.

Jeff,
No classes will qualify for this first race. Going to give this a shot and see how it works.
Each class will run 1 heat race. If a particular class has 10 or more karts, we will split that class in half for the heat races. EXAMPLE: If we have 18 in Medium - 9 will run in the first heat race (for the inside row) and 9 will run in the second heat race (for the outside row).

1st Points Race of 2009, YEE-HAW!
After ‘thawing out’ from the ICE-Breaker, we are ready to go points racing…GMP Style.
Saturday, March 14, 2009 10am – Gates Open Noon - Practice begins 1:45pm – Drivers meeting 2pm – Heat Racing Begins
We will be running the Dash for Ca$h in the Rookie Class.
Running Order Rookies - 250, DASH FOR CA$H, 14/67 gearing Purple Plates - 265 Super Heavy - 400, driver must weigh 200 Medium - 350 Blue Plates - 275 Sr. Champ - Clones - 410 Jr. Sportsman Champ -Purple - 300 Heavy - 375 Limiteds - 350 Jr. Sportsman Champ - Blue - 315 Lite - 325 Jr. Champ - Clones - 360, must run a restrictor plate Sr. Champ - Flatheads - 410 Gold Plates - 300 Clone Flat Karts – 360
Starting this weekend, we are going to start the NO FAULT RULE on cautions. Ronald will be discussing this rule in detail during the drivers meeting on Saturday.
We look forward to seeing everyone this weekend and can’t wait to kick off the 2009 Points Season.
Finally, I’m sure that most of you have heard about the tragedy surrounding Kelly Slater’s mom (Donna Slater). In an effort to try and help the family, we are going to ‘pass the hat’ at the track this Saturday and every dime that is donated will be given to Kelly’s grand-father. Ronald also suggested that we donate the ‘point’s portion’ of the 50/50 ticket sales on Saturday to this fund and I think that is a great idea.
Please continue to keep Kelly and his family in your prayers.
