OK, we're looking to move Peyton in to the rookie class next year.
From the website, this class runs an unaltered Blue clone with aftermarket pipe and filter allowed. And runs a fixed gear of 14/67 and 3900 max rpm. There is also a max tire pressure of 10 psi.
Am I missing anything else? Is there a minimum weight? What about the clutch? And if the clutch is open, any thoughts on stall speed? I ask because I've got an old single disk Vortex clutch but am not sure I can get it to slip low enough for this class.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Darren.

Darren,
For 2009, you can run a Blue or YELLOW motor (unaltered).
You are correct on the gears, air-filter, pipe, RPM's and air-pressure.
The minimum weight is 250 pounds but you must run a shoe clutch.
We can't wait to see Peyton in that class next year.

Jt I think they also have a 35 inch tire circumference rule as well and the right side tires must be on 10 inch wheels but not sure about that.

Thanks for the information. What about the gas tanks? I assume these are to be in the stock location and not relocated to the floor pan, correct?

For the Rookie Class, the tanks must remain in the stock location.

Does anyone have suggestions as to a throttle linkage? Pictures?
Thanks, Darren

Darren,
There will be several guys at the track this weekend (practice) that can show you how they did their linkage. Track me down and I'll introduce you to them.
Also, I know that one of our track vendors (Randy Schjott) sells a 'connector' that is used for the throttle linkage on the blue motors.
Wayne and Cari - If you guys also sell these 'connectors', let me know so that I don't get in trouble with y'all.

JT, thanks for the input. I'll check around this weekend at SMS to see if I can get this answered but I have a question on what can come off regarding the stock throttle linkage for this novice class. I understand the internal governor must remain in place but does that include the hand throttle adjustment assembly on top of the carb?

Darren,
Randy (GMP Techman) will be at SMS this weekend so track him down and I willing to bet you that he can help answer all of your questions on the rookie motor.
If you don't know him or can't find him Saturday, track me down and we will get him cornered.
